loans available!!

It's a good job that some kind soul called Jonathan has been around dropping off leaflets to offer me a loan if l am desperate. He certainly looks to be offering competitive rates, at only 466.37% APR.
I think l'll pass, and l've also blanked his number out, as the last thing l want to do is advertise these kind of loan sharks that prey on the vulnerable in our society, especially in these times.

targeted by funeral homes

I know l'm knocking on, but there's no need to keep reminding me. Now there's another funeral establishment sending me adverts. This one arrived today from the new place in Richmond.
I think they are trying to tell me something, not realising of course, that they are wasting their time, effort, and money, as l am indestructible.

seriously thick bleach

Now this seems a bit harsh. I blame the class system and probably a poor education.
Looks like it's a hard worker though, according to the statistics.

iphone x advert

The recent advert for the iphone x is doing my head in.
Sure, the woman in the advert is very attractive, the song is very catchy (All Night by Big Boi), and the singing animojis are cute, but there's something that's been really bugging me.
What the hell is the animoji on the right?
It just looks like a lump of poo - and don't try to convince me it's meant to be chocolate ice cream.
Bloody youth of today / what's the world coming to / wouldn't have got away with this when l was a lad ... blah blah blah blah etc

lookers have got competition!

I had to take in a car for an MOT in Northallerton, at Lookers VW garage. I didn't notice it when going in, but on leaving the building to pick up the vehicle, spotted the sign from the adjacent Snigwig garage, opposite the main entrance to Lookers, and had to admire their cheek (and take a picture).
Top advertising, and although it must annoy Lookers, l assume they can't have it removed, or they would have done so.
It certainly made me chuckle thinking about it on the journey back home.

oliver reed's drinking advice

Because l've been reading a lot recently, plus listening to music and watching films and box sets, I've actually not been drinking that much, (not a drop for the last 13 days at the moment), but when l do, l can certainly relate to this advice from Oliver Reed.

I didn't realise Paul McCartney has resorted to doing adverts. A good cause l suppose.

james blunt lottery advert

Anyone who knows me will be more than aware that l am in no way or form a James Blunt admirer. However, l do think that in the new National Lottery advert he sends himself up pretty well, and shows he doesn't take himself to seriously.
I'd almost start liking the guy if it wasn't for the songs.

a record seller knows his customers

While recently checking out Ebay for an old record (or 'Vinyl' as the kids now call them), l was also shown this selection of other albums available from one of the sellers.
Now, because l am a sad old git, l do already own all of them, but the seller either really knows his market, or Ebay/The Internet are targeting me pretty damn precisely!

The new Carlsberg advert features couples arriving at a cinema to find it full of bikers, with only two seats left.  Do they dare sit down?

the peta advert in nottingham

This PETA advert outside Notts County's football ground has been taken down after one day, due to complaints that it was indecent.  PETA said it was the only billboard of this type in the country, and 'they were presented with a suitable space', but l guess it has already served its purpose by gaining worldwide publicity, well beyond the usual reach of that advertising site.
So well done to all at PETA, a clever idea, and magnificent manipulation of the media (and yes, l know l am also acting as a tool (fnaar) for them and adding to the publicity).

the bradley watch - feel the time

As part of my job, l am sometimes tasked with buying watches for the visually impaired.  These are normally talking watches of various designs, and l have used them myself to find out the time when l am in bed without having to switch on a light.
Although these Bradley watches do not speak the time, they can be understood by feeling or looking at them, and they also look pretty cool, so l can imagine plenty of hipsters wearing them in the future.
As for me, l don't even own a normal watch, as time doesn't rule me.  l don't need a watch to 'feel the time' as l can do that through the cosmic vibrations around me (and all that kind of stuff), but l'll admit that if these were cheaper, l would consider parting with my hard earned money for one (and l am also far from a hipster).
More information about them here.

A great advert / poster from The Spastic Society (now known as Scope).  Very simple (no that's not meant as a joke), but it gets the message across in a direct way.

dandie fashions advert from the 1960's

This is one of the reasons the 1960's were so great, as you would be hard pressed to find a clothes store that had an advert like this nowadays.  This is from Dandie fashions in the Kings Road, Chelsea, and l would count myself as a Potential Film Star, Rock and Roller, Acid Head and Speedfreak.. I have also dressed in drag (which Englishman hasn't?) and l act like a Queen sometimes, so that's close enough for another. It's a shame the shop is not still in business, as l would be welcomed with open arms.

And on a related note, here's a couple of Dandies (by Harry Clarke)

And of course...The Kinks
